Video Games And Toys
What affect have video games had on the toy industry?
When video games were first starting and picking up speed, a lot of toy companies like Hasbro and Mattel started making games and getting into the industry because there were so many good licences from toys, and then getting video games and being able to license the toys from it. So, there's kind of a natural connection between the two.
What are some of the best toys based on video games?
Well, some of the best toys are, I think, the street fighter characters but there's a lot of great ones from Nintendo. I mean pretty much any game that you like or enjoy, if it's popular you have a toy made off of it. It's there. And if you want to spend enough money you can get these amazingly carved busts and statues. Pretty much depending on your preference what character you want to see your toy made out of or what game you want to play, there's board games you know for all the Nintendo games, everything. They're there. It's more of a matter of personal preference. If you think Pokemon characters are cute, there's a million Pokemon toys out there for you.
What are some of the worst toys based on video games?
The worst toy ever based off a video game would probably be the Street Fighter G.I. Joes. They were awful, plastic; there is nothing on Earth that would make you want to buy one. It really was a synthesis of the G.I. Joe moving body parts, those kind of dolls with the Street Fighter characters. It just didn't work at all.
