Wedding Coordinator Basics
What is a 'wedding consultant'?
A wedding consultant is somebody that you would go to in order to ask questions. They would give you some information about weddings and tell you how you might go about doing things for the wedding.
What is a 'wedding coordinator'?
A wedding coordinator is somebody who works with you and helps you to coordinate your wedding. We coordinate your vendors, your venue, and the activities, and we work with the client all the way - if they want - from the very beginning of the planning stage, all the way through to the end of the wedding day itself.
What is a wedding coordinator responsible for?
The wedding coordinator, ultimately, is responsible for all of those vendors showing up when they're supposed to, doing what they're supposed to, and making sure that your wedding day runs smoothly. That's why a coordinator wants to work with you from the beginning and really understand the vendors that you've chosen, and what elements you want for your wedding. By having a wedding coordinator, that person will work with all of your vendors and make sure that everybody's meshed properly, and that they know what can happen and how long it's going to take, and make sure that the wedding comes off the way you want it to come off.
How will a wedding coordinator help me?
A wedding coordinator will help you to organize what you're going to do, and in what order you're going to do things. Everybody can figure out right away, as soon as they get engaged, "I need a place to get married." They know that, but then there are a lot of questions. "What should I do next? How do I interface the different vendors that I'm going to be hiring? How do I figure out what's the most important thing? When do I do certain things?" A wedding coordinator will really help you with working through a planning calendar so that you know when to do what.
How can wedding coordinator save me money?
A wedding coordinator won't always save you actual dollars. For example, it's not as though because I've referred you to this photographer he's now going to give you a lower price. That is not what's going to happen. What a coordinator will do is save you time - and time is money - by narrowing down the field of who you're going to interview. Don't go and interview ten photographers: let your coordinator help you figure out who the best people are for you. That will save you time and money. The other thing a coordinator will do for you is, if you're working with a vendor that the wedding coordinator has a relationship with, you're going to get preferred service. That vendor wants to make the coordinator happy. What you'll get is extra things; you won't save dollars per se, but you'll get extra, and you'll get amazing response to what you want.
