Wedding Insurance

Carol Rosen (Professional Wedding Coordinator) gives expert video advice on: Can I insure my wedding dress? and more...

What is 'wedding insurance'?

Wedding insurance is going to cover you, for example, in the event that something happens to the photographer and his camera is stolen and you don't get your film, and you don't get your pictures. It is not going to cover you if you get the pictures and you don't like them. You picked the vendor and that is the deal. Wedding insurance will cover many of the things that might happen that you wouldn't want to happen at a wedding. It might cover broken gifts: if something should happen to one of the gifts, if they are broken or misplaced.

Can I insure my wedding dress?

Insurance on a wedding dress can sometimes be covered by a wedding insurance policy. It is going to be very important that you check your policy and you see what items are covered and to what extent.

What is 'event liability' and property damage wedding insurance?

Event liability and property damage insurance are very often contracted through your homeowner's insurance. However, there are also wedding insurance companies that will cover those as well. The liability is going to cover you in the event that a guest at your wedding perhaps drinks too much and has an accident on the way home. If something like that happens, everybody gets sued. We are a very litigious society and there are a lot of lawsuits that go on. Most of the time, those liability coverages are going to cover the cost of your attorneys in order to defend you. That's really what they're going to do.
