How can an employer legally discipline problem employees?

The key to disciplining problematic employees is consistency, and following company policies. If a company has a progressive discipline policy, you certainly want to follow it. However, companies are not required to have progressive disciplinary policies, and they might want to allow themselves a little bit more latitude in how it is going about disciplining employees.

How can a company prevent violence in the workplace?

There is no real way to ensure that there will be no violence within the workplace, but some good things to consider are carefully screening your job applicants, training employees on workplace violence, and providing polices against it.

Is a company liable if one of its workers injures a customer?

Whether or not a company is going to be liable if a worker injures a customer is going to depend upon whether or not that employee was acting within the course and scope of its duties. The answer depends on the circumstances.
