Here’s a recipe that’s great for sharing – mozzarella sticks with an oregano, basil and rosemary coating. Yum!
PREP: 15 minutes
COOK: 20 minutes
500 g mozzarella
80 g panko breadcrumbs
3 free range eggs, whisked
1/2 tbsp oregano
1/2 tbsp dried basil
1/2 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
100 g flour
Vegetable oil, for frying
STEP 1: PREPARE THE COATING
Slice the mozzarella into 2 cm slices. Season the breadcrumbs with the oregano, basil and rosemary and give it a mix. Place the flour in a bowl and season with a pinch of salt and pepper and mix. Beat the eggs and pace them in a bowl.
STEP 2: COAT THE MOZZARELLA STICKS
Dip each slice of mozzarella into the flour, then the beaten egg, and finally the breadcrumbs and set aside. Continue until all the mozzarella pieces are coated.
STEP 3: COOK
Half fill a wok with vegetable oil and heat it to 190°C. Add a few mozzarella sticks and fry for a few minutes until golden. Once cooked, place them on a plate covered in kitchen paper to drain. Serve with a tomato dipping sauce.
