She led the organization as president in 2000–01 and served on the national board of directors from 1994–2002. She remains professor of medicine, obstetrics & gynecology at Vanderbilt University. She is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, and has been elected to the American Society of Clinical Investigation.
