February 17-July 20, 2008
Star Studio will feature works by Robert J. Lang, a former physicist and engineer turned artist, whose innovative approach to the traditional art of Origami has earned him a reputation as one of the world's most important Origami artists. The exhibition in Star Studio will include examples of Lang's complex and realistic work, including monumental paper sculptures created at the IMA for the exhibition. The exhibition will also give visitors the opportunity to learn to make their own folded paper creations, which will be incorporated into a unique visitor-generated installation.
Origami was instigated from the established Japanese art of paper folding, which joins 'oru' standing for 'folding', and 'kami' symbolizing 'paper'. View Videojug's instructional video on How to create an origami swallow in easy step-by-step directions. The intention of origami is to create an object using geometric folds and crease patterns using only one piece of paper and soon you'll be taught How to create an origami swallow.
Origami is special in that it only uses a small number of different folds, but they can be shared in a number of ways to make intricate designs. Become a specialist origami maker by watching other Videojug origami short instructional videos on how to make animals, dragons, roses and many more. There's no need for an origami guidebook when you can get all the free instruction needed in one place.
Make sure to press clean creases as you move through the steps because you will need to utilise every fold afterwards in the paper folding technique. The spoken advice are a helpful addition to the visual origami approach. Starting with that one piece of paper, it's amazing what objects you can accomplish.
Origami can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
