A pawn can capture his opponents at one square forward in three directions: straight ahead, to the right or to the left. The rook can capture in any straight column.
the bishop loses to the pawn (black).The King pieces can capture one square in any direction including back and diagonally back for a total of six move -capture possibilities. The Black King loses to the White King because the white King has two moves left that will capture either the rook or the King and the white King only has one.
